A Guide to Cheap College Dates

Christian Singles

College students are poor. And by poor, I mean dirt poor cheapskates who don’t want to spend money on anything. Did I get that about right? It is nothing to be ashamed of but it is true. No college student wants to spend money on anything they don’t need to. This is why a lot of college students do not go on dates. What many people don’t know is that dating does not have to be an expensive thing. There are so many things that people can do that are either free or really cheap. Don’t let money be an excuse to not go on dates. Here are some great cheap date ideas.

Make dinner together
Instead of going out to an expensive meal, make an activity out of it and cook it yourself. Buying food at a grocery store is automatically a lot cheaper than going out and buying a whole meal for two people. It is also a good opportunity to talk to the person and actually get to know them better.

Penny dates
In order to make this work, all you need is a penny. Then, you and your date each need to pick a destination. Then flip the penny and one destination will be heads and the other tails. The whole point is to let the penny make the decision. You may find that you go to some interesting places that you have never been to before.

Dollar theater
There are not dollar theaters everywhere, which means that not everyone can do this. If you do have a dollar theater close by, take a date to a movie. Dollar theaters show movies that have just left the normal theater that are still not out on DVD. It gives you the chance to see pretty new movies, without paying a fortune for a movie ticket.

College sports games
Most colleges have deals for students where you can get in to different sports games for free or for a lot cheaper than normal. Go to any sports game possible that is relatively cheap. Sports games are so fun because you can be loud and crazy, but you can still have a conversation and get to know your date.

Hike
If there are places to hike in your college town, look up some cool trails that would be fun for anyone. You can even make it a double or a triple date and go on a hike with a big group. Hiking is a fun activity and it is completely free! There is no cost to wander around in a forest.

Bike ride
If you have bikes, you can find a cool bike trail. Take advantage of a nice sunny day and go out and enjoy it. Creative dates are very much appreciated. Going on a bike ride is a lot more creative than your normal dinner and a movie. Plus, going on a bike ride is free!

Fly a kite
If you don’t have a kite, you may have to buy one, which will cost a little bit of money, but it is still a cheap activity. Many people have never flown a kite. It would be a fun and new experience and a good way to have a conversation with a date,

A Valentine’s Gift for your Man, Whatever the Stage of the Relationship

Christian Singles

As Valentine’s Day approaches most couples start to think of the card and present they’ll get to show each other that they care. If you’ve been in a relationship for a long time then you may have developed some sort of established routine, or thought up a new surprise to celebrate the day.

Young Love

When relationships are new and you have only been together a matter of weeks it’s not always easy to know what your new boyfriend might like as a Valentine’s gift. In the beginning a small gift is more appropriate, such as a CD of a singer that you know he likes, or perhaps a book or DVD.  If you want to get something a bit more personal, and you know his size, you might want to get him a shirt or some other unique menswear item, perhaps from a Hugo Boss or Barbour outlet.

Shopping for the man in your life is never easy, but most women get more adept at it as time passes. When you get to know each other better, perhaps when your relationship has passed the three months mark and you begin to think of yourselves as a couple.

When you have been seeing each other for a few months you are still getting to know each other, if you want the relationship to continue you might want to find him a Valentine’s gift that will impress. Even though you don’t know everything about each other, you’ll know whether your guy has a particular interest or whether he is into the latest gadgets. If you know he’s been coveting a particular boy toy, a particular radio controlled car for instance, then why not make his day with that present.

Getting Serious

If Valentines Day comes around when you have been together for six months or more then other people will see you as a couple and the relationship is probably on a more serious footing.

If the weather is still very cold, as it often is in February, you might want to get him that sweater, part of a unique menswear range that would bring out the blue in his eyes. If you want to give him a Valentine’s gift of a shared experience, then why not book a table at your favourite restaurant. When you’ve eaten you can produce cinema tickets for the film you’ve both been meaning to see, surprise him why don’t you?

Long Term Partners

Once you’ve been together for a year or two, you may be looking at the long haul; there are plenty of personalised gifts available at stores like a Versace or Barbour outlet. By now, if you’re like most young couples you’ve probably been on holiday together and have lots of things to talk and laugh about.

One of the things to emerge in recent years has been the gift of an experience, or better still a shared experience. It’s possible to book experience weekends and although these are often sought after by businesses for a corporate team building exercise a growing number of individuals and couples enjoy the experience.

Shared experiences are the things that help to build and cement a relationship and Valentine’s Day is one of the best times for doing this.

How to Be Romantic

Single Parent Dating

Raising kids and holding down a job can put a damper on anyone’s love life, but these tips on how to be romantic are designed as simple suggestions for rekindling a bit of the old passion. And even if you’re not married with children, you’ll find the ideas listed below worth trying out.

Five Suggestions for Being Romantic

Give Flowers – Guys will usually do this for Valentine’s Day, but giving flowers for no reason is even more romantic. There are a number of services that specialize in delivering roses, but bringing them yourself can be even more meaningful.

Frequent Eye Contact – Try staring into the eyes of your partner without saying a word. This simple gesture can speak volumes.

Doing Chores – While it may not be sexy, helping out around the house can be a romantic gesture in its own right.

Saying “I Love You” – When your partner least expects it, lean over and whisper “I love you.” When it comes to being romantic, there’s nothing more powerful than those three little words.

Candlelight – Atmosphere and romance often go hand in hand, so turn off the lights and fire up some candles.

More Tips for Increasing the Romance in Your Life

Poetry – Writing your partner a heartfelt love poem is a great way to express your emotions. If you run into too many problems, you can always recite works from the masters. I suggest Lord Byron and Shakespeare.

Unexpected Kisses – Getting kissed is popular with either gender, so surprise your partner with a kiss on the neck or mouth. One short kiss could lead to many more.

Holding Hands – We all held hands with our date when we were teenagers, but who says you have to stop when you’re an adult?

Steamy Movies – If there are no kids around, curl up on the sofa and pop in a steamy DVD to set the mood. I suggest films such as Body Heat and Wild Things.

The Power of Music – Have you ever put together a compilation of romantic songs for your significant other? Try it again and see what happens. Nostalgia can be a powerful tool.

Everyone has an idea of how to be romantic, but they often forget to follow through. I hope the tips in this article can serve as a gentle reminder of how easy it can be. The next time you’re alone with your significant other, give one or more of these a try. You may be surprised, and delighted, by what happens next.
